DBT Modules Explained : Emotion Regulation

Goal: To understand, name, and manage your emotions in a balanced way.

People who benefit from DBT often describe feeling flooded by emotion or stuck in mood states that seem to come out of nowhere.

The Emotion Regulation module teaches how to:

● Recognise and label emotions accurately

● Understand the function of different emotions

● Reduce emotional vulnerability (through sleep, nutrition, movement, etc.)

● Build positive emotional experiences

● Use opposite action to shift emotional momentum

Clients also learn how trauma, temperament, and sensitivity contribute to emotional patterns — and how they can develop more stability without losing their depth or passion.
